At NOXTAK, we believe in the need to innovate in the control of electromagnetic emissions, so we created the GEMS project with a proprietary patent for a multi-sensor device in an automated protocol that takes advantage of the security and scalability of Blockchain technology. Today, we want to tell you more about the GEMS project, powered by Noxtak.
Since our foundation, one of NOXTAK’s main purposes has been to offer specialized advice to develop integrated solutions that will make the cities of the future more sustainable, safe, efficient, decentralized, connected, automated, ecological and healthy for everyone.
As pioneers in the development of ecological and innovative technologies to improve the quality of life, care for natural resources and promote digital innovation, we made ourselves available to national and local governments, as well as multilateral organizations and institutions, to collaborate in the design and promotion of projects that contemplate the control of electromagnetic emissions and studying their influence on the environment, all developed and financed from a sustainable and circular economy approach.
The NOXTAK team, through the implementation of a Blockchain ecosystem, ensures for GEMS the much-needed traceability, security (encryption), scalability, and high speed to properly handle the information collected.
These characteristics, as well as other additional we will mention later, led he NOXTAK research and development team to select NEM as its strategic ally in Blockchain, with whom at the end of 2018, an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) was signed in view of the GEMS project, still incipient at that time. Today, NEM has reaffirmed its innovation with its highly compliant SYMBOL protocol for GEMS.
This is the concept of the GEMS project (Global Environmental Monitoring System), backed by IoT (Internet of Things) technologies, which facilitates the collection of data from multiple sensors installed inside a building or an open area, converting this data into environmental values.
GEMS is a system -software and hardware that has a patent approved by NOXTAK at the USPTO (United States Patent Trademark Office) – designed to create a global non-governmental platform that will be connected in real-time by monitoring Electromagnetic emission levels Indoors and Outdoors Quickly, Safely and Traceable, a technology that can scale and grow in complexity. It uses cutting-edge sensors for data collection and, besides, it also receives information from third-party allies. This specialized software is compatible with systems related to environmental monitoring and seeks global data integration.
After researching into alternatives for Big Data encryption and protection based on blockchain technology, we will open the possibility of creating a multi-signature and multi-level platform for a wide range of commercial, scientific, and institutional allies. We will be able to monitor the maximum levels of exposure to non-ionizing radiation from telecommunications transmissions. Providing the collected information to local and national governments, telephone operators, and scientific institutions. GEMS could also help control interference in IoT systems and smart cities.
The purpose of GEMS is to do global monitoring of EMF emissions in a safe, traceable, and scalable way. We seek to achieve a permanent collection of electromagnetic measurement data in the environment from artificial sources to process the database and distribute it in a cryptographic (Blockchain) way that ensures transparency, precision, and incorruptibility of the collected data.
GEMS aims to be the quintessential global observation platform for measuring electromagnetic emissions and controlling levels of exposure to artificial electromagnetic fields (EMFs) in urban, rural, natural reserves, and oceans. We want to establish a relationship between the scientific study of these emissions and their influence on meteorological, climatic, geological factors, environmental threats, and species extinction threats.
This platform is also designed for the development, planning, and architecture of new technologies and telecommunications, such as 6G and 7G, so that they are sustainable and friendly to the human body and the environment. Also, it can be a monitoring platform to detect electromagnetic irregularities that can undermine the optimal performance of IoT sensors and autonomous systems in smart cities.
To achieve its purpose, GEMS will rely on a wide range of technologies and processes that will allow it to detect and collect information. Mainly, it will work with sensors designed to operate with multiple probes and cover a wide spectrum to collect data from all the frequency bands used in telecommunications.
It also incorporates a data processing module and a microcontroller to govern the functions of each sensor. In the same way, the system will be able to connect to mobile networks or WIFI to transmit data in real-time and will have a global positioning module to tag data at a specific place and time. Finally, it will include an AC / DC power supply with backup for indoors and outdoors, as well as a compatible solar panel module for outdoor use and full autonomy.
Among the measurement systems conceived at GEMS, the following stand out:
It’s important to highlight that GEMS will also rely on artificial intelligence (AI) to process and segment data, extract metadata, and identify which data is more relevant than others based on cross-criteria of microwaves power density, the number of linked devices in a network or device traffic, field strength, download, and upload, latency period, and geolocation.
GEMS will be able to contribute to smart cities as an automated system that can monitor 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and in real-time factors such as areas with a potential risk of failure (collapse) due to a continuous electromagnetic interference that precedes the loss of connections and links, something that can also mean electrical problems and accumulations of static charges that increase the risk of fires in a specific area.
The system can also monitor the compliance with telecommunication electromagnetic exposure levels in the city, in addition to serving as a simulator based on previous data on optimized urban planning, projections of technological and environmental sustainability.
GEMS is just one of the many solutions that we want to continue materializing in NOXTAK to improve everybody’s quality of life, the environment, and continue to promote the development of cleaner technologies designed for the well-being of everyone and all.
